Julio Jones should be 100 percent in two weeks,…

Julio Jones has been off to the side of the field doing individual drills during the Atlanta Falcons’ first training camp practices as he rehabs a minor foot ailment.

But as head coach Dan Quinn said, he shouldn’t be away from the field for long.

“I would say in the next 10 days to two weeks, I would imagine individual [drills],” Quinn said after a training camp practice. “He does all of the night walk-throughs. When he can go full haul, then we’ll cut him loose with everything.”

The foot issue is not serious and is not expected to hold him back when the regular season begins.

The wide receiver joined starting middle linebacker Deion Jones in the off field drills, the latter also dealing with the same foot injury that sidelined him for 10 games last season.

“When they get back to full go, we’ll ramp them back up more,” Quinn said. “I would imagine they’ll be back into the practice part soon and then the team part soon. Generally, we are more cautious in the [exhibition] season with [Julio].”

Jones has been in attendance for the Falcons offseason training program despite not signing what he hoped would be a long term contract offer that was promised to him last summer.

He briefly held out last offseason in hopes of getting a new deal then, but the Falcons re-arranged his existing contract in a way that increased his pay for the 2018 season with no cap effect to the team. That arrangement came with a reported promise that he would sign a long term deal the next year.

There is some speculation that Jones and the Falcons already have the terms of a new contract in place, but cannot confirm the agreement because of a rule that forbids the public announcement of a new contract until one year after the most recent adjustment of their existing deal.

This past season, Jones led the National Football League with 1,677 receiving yards, scored eight touchdowns, and over the past five seasons leads all receivers in first down conversions.

In his NFL career, Jones has established several records for receiving, boasting the league’s best ever mark for receiving yards per game, is a five time Pro Bowl selection, a two time First Team All Pro, and in 2015 he finished with the second most receiving yards in a single season ever, with 1,871.

Overall, Jones has 698 catches for 10,731 yards and 51 touchdowns. His yardage number is the most for any player up to his 30th birthday in NFL history.
